About Me

My expertise lies in the general area of Process Systems Engineering. I graduated with a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) under the supervision of Dr. Michael Baldea and Dr. Thomas F. Edgar . Following, I worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate under the supervision of Dr. Efstratios N. Pistikopoulos at Texas A&M University.

My PhD work focused on smart manufacturing, combining first-principles and data-driven modeling approaches, numerical techniques, predictive control, and optimization to improve the operation of manufacturing systems. The study involved modeling, optimization, and control of an industrial austenitization furnace. In addition to the aforementioned thesis research, I worked on two other research projects at UT Austin: (1) optimal control of indoor air pollutants using combined moving horizon estimation and model predictive control, and (2) product value estimation of a shale gas to liquid hydrocarbon transformation process to optimize process design and operation.

As a postdoc at Texas A&M, I worked on the following projects: (1) classification of estrogenic compounds using image-analysis, big-data analytics and machine learning algorithms, and (2) modeling and multiparametric model predictive control of an industrial air separation unit.

Now, at IIT Gandhinagar, I work on projects under the following three broad themes: (1) Modeling, Control, and Optimization of Manufacturing Systems (Smart Manufacturing), (2) Model-Based Building Energy Management (Smart Buildings), and (3) Theoretical Research in Model Predictive Control.

Please feel free to send me an email if you are interested to work in my group, collaborate with me, or simply know more about my research.
